The Residence Inn Marriott at Denver Airport Gateway Park in Aurora, Colorado is a fairly accessible hotel with helpful, friendly staff. The parking lot holds three accessible parking spaces up front, and two to the side. The front entrance has touchless power access, and the front desk is at a reasonable height of 33.5 inches. There is an accessible restroom and a laundry room on the first floor, and braille signage is used throughout the hotel. Two elevators make four floors available to those who cannot use stairs.
A fitness area is available without powered entrance, but no conference area. The pool, however, is large and highly accessible with an ADA lift and whirlpool.
This Marriot has seven handicapped accessible rooms available for guests. Two of these feature roll-in showers. We toured accessible room #132, which offers an accessible peephole and door to the room opposite. The main door is at a width of 34.75 inches, and the bathroom door is at 35. The bed sits at a height of 29 inches, and the desk’s top is only a quarter of an inch higher, with the bottom of it at 25.5 inches. The closet is rather tall, at 64 inches. However, the bathroom holds no emergency phone.
At eleven and a half miles from the airport and fourteen miles from Downtown Denver, it’s an easy choice for those who wish to be close to their next flight and see some sights. Within the immediate area are an Applebee’s Bar and Grille, Outback Steakhouse, UNO Pizzeria, and liquor store for fast and easy dining options.
