Located in downtown Athens, within minutes of the University of Georgia and the University of Athens Medical School, the Hyatt Place Athens has a parking garage, connected to the main entrance, offering four up front accessible parking spots.
This attractive, modern hotel, built in 2017, is accessible from a touch-less power front door, along with touch-less power accessible rear door from the garage. The welcoming front desk is an accessible height, at 34.25”.
Four Elevators connect the nine floors for access to three conference rooms, a restaurant, a bar at accessible height of 33.25”, a convenience store, and a Business Area, with two computers, at a desk height 30.1/4”. On the second floor, a fitness area is available, although the entrance is not power accessible. An accessible washroom, is located next to the fitness area.
Out of 190 rooms the hotel, offers six accessible rooms.
The accessible room # 305, which tour guide was able to stay in, allowing for a more complete assessment, is a double with queen beds. The room has a shower tub with a removable shower bench, but no shower wand. At the room entrance, the door offers a peep hole, along with braille signage.
