The Hampton Inn & Suites in Vestal, New York is a clean hotel with very friendly staff, a short distance from the University of Binghamton Campus. It is also exceptionally outfitted for handicapped people. There are five accessible parking spaces, with two toward the front and three in the rear of the building. The front door is touchless, and powered for handcapped needs. The front desk height is 46 inches but there is an additional front desk area with a surface at 34.5 inches. At this front desk one can acquire room lighting kits for the hearing impaired. This hotel holds one central elevator for all three floors, a first floor washroom with handicapped access, and braille signage throughout the building.
Extra amenities include a conference area, fitness area with an emergency phone, and a pool with an ADA lift – although the pool area does not have a powered door. There is also a business center with two computers. The desks sit at a height of 29.5 inches at the top and 28 at the bottom.
We toured accessible room number 224, which had two queen sized beds. There was a shower tub with a handrail and two sinks in the large bathroom. The room featured an accessible peephole and a connection door to the adjacent room, but no emergency phone.
