The Fairfield by Marriot in Tallahassee, FL is an incredibly accessible building -we are absolute fans. From the front, four accessible parking spaces are available. The front door is powered and can be accessed touchless. On the first floor, an accessible washroom can be found. There are six accessible rooms and six rooms for the hearing impaired. Though there is only one roll-in shower, the rest of the hotel amenities are very impressive. With braille signage throughout the hotel, an ADA lift, and an accessible pool, this hotel was certainly made with the disabled in mind. Other amenities include a business room with one computer (Desk Height is 25.50 inches on the bottom and 31.50 inches on the top), a fitness room, and an elevator that services three floors. We toured two accessible rooms. One, Room 125, is also for the hearing impaired. It has a connecting door to the next room. It has an accessible peephole on the front door and an emergency phone in the bathroom.
The measurements taken are as follows:
- Door Width (34.50)
- Bed Height (28’)
- Closet Height (62’), Not accessible height.
- Desk Height (28.50’)Top (27’) Bottom
- Bathroom Door Width (33.25’)
- Toilet Height (17.75’)
- Toilet Handrail Height (35’)
- Sink Height (32’)Top (25.50’) Bottom
The second room toured, Room 126, also had an accessible peephole, as well as blinds. However, it did not have an emergency phone in the bathroom. Next door to the hotel is a Walmart, and across the street are a Waffle House and Burger King. Altogether, we rate the Fairfield By Marriot at a 9/10 for accessibility.
