DoubleTree Hilton Denver-Stapleton North is a comfortable hotel, attractively decorated, with pleasant staff. Located in the entertainment district, conveniently close to Northfield Stapleton, Stapleton Airport, Johnson and Wales University, and 17 miles from Denver International Airport.
Out front are eight handicap parking spots. The welcoming front desk is an accessible height of 35.50’’. Two computers are available in the front lobby for guest use, with accessible desk height of 30.50’’.
Nearby, in the lobby is a bar and grill, called AmberStone, plus a sitting room, and a breakfast area, offering Starbuck’s Coffee. A handy ATM is available off the lobby.
Out of 299 rooms, there are currently seven handicap accessible rooms, though the hotel is planning to add more. First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth floor all have accessible rooms. Three of the accessible rooms, offer roll-in showers.
Of the two accessible rooms toured, room # 410 on the fourth floor has a roll-in shower and room # 510 on the fifth floor has a shower tub. Both these accessible rooms offer connecting doors to adjacent rooms.
Two quite large ball rooms are available that could easily be divided into nine.
The hotel provides a Fitness Room and an outdoor pool, closed for winter season, is being made handicap accessible and under construction at this time. There is no indoor pool at Stapleton Doubletree, but a sister hotel with indoor pool is blocks away.
Braille signage is offered throughout the hotel. All accessible rooms, have the same layout except for the bathrooms.
The reviewers actually stayed in Accessible Room # 211 providing a realistic experience. They found the room size medium, and were pleased to take advantage of a connecting door to an adjacent room. No emergency phone is offered in the bathroom.
