Element by Westin in North Chelmsford, MA is a wonderful hotel with helpful staff and clean facilities, right near UMass Lowell and thirty miles from Boston. Built in 2019, it was built with accessibility in mind – we rate it a 9.5/10.
There are seven accessible parking spots, and automatic front doors. The front desk sits at 34”, making it easy to reach. Also found on the first floor is a handicapped accessible restroom, attached to the main lobby. Two elevators provide service to all three floors, and there is braille signage throughout the building. Near the hotel, guests can find a Walmart and a Starbucks.
While there is no ATM or guest laundry services, the hotel does feature a conference room, business center (with one computer with a desk height of 33.75” up top and 32” on the bottom), fitness center, and pool with an ADA lift. The fitness center and pool do not have powered entry, but there’s also a hotel bar at an accessible height of 33”.
Additionally, all seven of the hotels’ rooms feature roll-in showers, and four are equipped for the hearing impaired. We toured rooms #119 and #310, both of which were included in the latter four. Room #310 was a medium-sized room with two queen beds. Room #119 was larger, with a king-sized bed and spacious bathroom. There was no emergency phone in the bathroom, nor a connecting door to any adjacent room.
