The Holiday Inn Express in Albany is a modern building with plenty of accommodations for handicapped individuals. Upon arrival, one will immediately find six accessible parking spots and a front door that can be operated with a touchless sensor. The front desk is comfortably low at 34’. Two elevators in the building connect five floors, which hold ten rooms specifically set up for handicapped individuals. All of these also offer accommodations for the hearing impaired, and two contain roll-in showers. Rooms also are equipped with accessible curtain handles. We stayed in the accessible room #309, which was a large room with a king-sized bed. Other useful resources within the hotel include a business center with two computers, with desks at a height of 27.5” at the top and 31.25 at the bottom, and an easily accessed washroom on the first floor. While the fitness area offers no power doors or emergency phone, the pool area (next door) is very accessible, with not only an emergency phone but an ADA lift to both the pool and jacuzzi. We rate it at an 8.5/10.
