The La Quinta Inn & Suites By Wyndham: Buffalo/Amherst location is a recently renovated, conveniently located hotel that we rate 9/10 for accessibility. At only 9 miles from the Buffalo International Airport and 4 miles from the University of Buffalo, it is an excellent choice for the families of current or potential students. It is 19 miles from Downtown Buffalo, and 20 from the Peace Bridge.

There are four accessible parking spaces at the front of the building, and a touchless powered door for easy access inside. The front desk is 34” high, which is easily reached by visitors who may be in a wheelchair. Handicapped accessible washrooms are on the first floor and there is braille signage throughout the entire building. The building itself has five floors, all of which can be reached via two elevators. Also on the first floor are an ATM, laundry area, and a pool with an ADA lift. The hotel does not offer a conference area, but there is a business center with one computer. The desk sits at an accessible height of 35.75” at the top and 34” at the bottom. There is also a fitness area, but the room does not have powered entry.

For your stay, there are seven accessible rooms to choose from, three rooms equipped for the hearing impaired, and eight roll-in showers. We toured room number 409 – a large room with a king sized bed. The room did not have a roll-in shower or emergency phone, but the heights of its amenities were reasonable.
