Located in the heart of historic Newport, RI, Newport Marriott offers breathtaking harbor views and easy access to downtown Newport, the Newport Mansion district along Bellevue Avenue, and a plethora of quaint beaches and observation points. Whether staying for business or pleasure, the accessibility of so many shops, restaurants, museums, and lovely areas to sit and enjoy the water is sure to appeal to patrons of all backgrounds. Two Modern American dining establishments, “Skiff,” and “Main Sail,” are also available to guests preferring to remain at the hotel for meals.
Newport Marriott’s outdoor parking lot offers six up-front accessible parking spots; there is also an underground parking garage since parking around the actual facility is someone limited on ground level. A Newport visitor center located next to the hotel offers three electric car power stations for those driving electric/hybrid vehicles. The front door can be opened by an accessible push-button. The front desk is also accessible, sitting at a height of 30.5 inches. It should be noted the front desk is located on the second floor and is accessible by three different elevators located on the first floor. This hotel offers a two-floor fitness area that does not feature power doors. The pool and jacuzzi both offer ADA power lift. Accessible washrooms can be found on the second and third floors. Additionally, a large conference and banquet area are included. The hotel offers an accessible fitness area as well as an indoor pool, outfitted with an accessible ADA lift. The office space, free to use for guests, includes three desktop computers sitting on desks that are 34 inches high and 31 inches wide.
Newport Marriot’s seven floors are connected by three accessible elevators. This hotel offers 31 accessible rooms and one accessible suite with equipment for hearing-impaired guests. We toured Room (433), an accessible and hearing-impaired room that featured lighting for hearing. The room offered a roll-in shower and shower wand. Its bathroom did not include an emergency phone.
